About the Tutor

I am an artist with a passion for pastels; the pure intensity of colour and softness of pastels is mesmerising and reflects the vibrant light of Australia.

I have been included in several juried exhibitions featuring my photo-realistic large scale floral native paintings. I also enjoy creating impressionistic still lives or working en Plein air creating seascapes, landscapes and cityscapes.

I have always made art and growing up in Walyalup (Fremantle), I was always surrounded by artists and creatives. I studied visual arts and fashion, worked in costume, had my own label and taught fashion. My work reflects design elements in my composition and the colours I use, and is naturally influenced by my varied life experiences.

In 2021 I gave up my job as a fashion designer to focus full time on my career as an artist. I spend several days each month in the South West, camping and immersing myself in nature.

I love plein air painting as working in the fresh air inspires me and opens my eyes to the colours around me. I am consumed by the colours in shadows, and working outdoors reveals more than any photograph. I bring these experiences into the studio where I work most days. I do not have a defined style; I prefer to treat my creative life as an open university, and my subjects are the exploration of all forms that take my interest.
