Gillian Peebles

Gillian Peebles, formerly 'Aitken', has been associated with Atwell Gallery since it’s very beginning. Back in the 1970’s, along with the original group, she washed walls, carted away rotting bales of hay and helped turn the original derelict house into a working arts facility.

She is proud of Atwell’s contribution to Melville, and the State’s artistic communities. For more than a decade, she conducted classes in the original building and later expanded into the new building with the ‘Tuesday Morning’ group. On leaving the district, she returned to do workshops and in the later years judge and, more recently, award her Prize and perpetual Trophy at the Atwell Youth Awards art exhibition
