Class Description

This course is designed for artists who already paint but are not confident in portraiture. Any artist, no matter what style he or she works in, can benefit from learning fundamentals skills.

Tatyana's teaching method emphasises the classical method in portraying a person. She will teach the main components of a drawing curriculum – composition, anatomy, proportions, perspective.

What you'll learn across the course:

  • The fundamental concepts of drawing including composition, proportions, perspective and construction of a drawing.
  • Human anatomy including the skull and facial muscles.
  • Construction of face elements such as an eye, a nose and lips.
  • Facial planes drawing.
  • Portrait painting in grisaille.
  • Mixing colours

You will finish this course with any work you have created and an array of new drawing and painting skills specific to portraits.

Materials: BYO materials (your choice of medium)


Tetyana studied at Moscow Industrial Art University.  She developed her love of art by  visiting galleries and museums across Europe.  She loves to work in oil medium and particularly loves portraiture, which shows the secret beauty of the soul, mood and relevant to surrounding the world.

Tetyana exhibits regularly and has won awards at the MCAA awards and at Alfred Cove Art Society. She paints portrait commissions and painted a portrait of an Australian inventor of farm machinery for Royal Agricultural Society of WA .
