Class Description

COURSE CONTENT:

The student will be presented with a brief for the creation of a clay mask. They will then choose the form and design the mask. Utilising sketching and drawing techniques as well as clay sculpting process’s the student will bring their mask creation to life.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

  • Learn design fundamentals
  • Clay building techniques - coil, slab and hand building.
  • Decoration techniques
  • Clay Safety
  • Glazing and colouring techniques

Tutor

Sandra is a multidisciplinary artist, works with a range of materials to produce sculptural pieces. She takes inspiration from nature and enjoys experimenting with a range of material, often incorporating found and recycled objects, resulting fascinating and unusual art forms. She has more than 20 years’ experience exploring and teaching ceramics.  She has been always drawn to the organic character of clay, in her attempt to convey the beauty of nature through her art.
