Class Description

Composition and Values: Use an extremely limited palette to develop skills and understanding of these two most important aspects of painting without having to worry about the added complexities of colour.

Learning outcomes:
Learn to create well designed, atmospheric, tonalist paintings that can stand on their own as finished works or be used as a solid foundation for further full colour rendering.

Tutor

Lawrence has been drawing or painting most of his life and has worked in most media but his preferred medium for painting is oil.

He attended Claremont School of Art for a number of years, focusing on oil painting, including studying portraiture with one of WA’s most   acclaimed portrait artists.

Lawrence’s style is largely realist and mostly representational. The majority of his work is in the genres of portraiture, landscapes or birds and animals.
