Class Description

COURSE CONTENT:

In this course the student is going to conceptualize the production of an animal sculpture. They will plan the creation process utilizing images of animals to formulate their design. Using basic clay building techniques the student will experience the joy and creative process as their sculpture takes form.

LEARNING OUTCOMES:

The student will evolve their planning and construction techniques.

-they will develop clay building skills: coiling, pinch pot and slab building techniques
- surface decoration and clay stamping
- learn clay safety
- learn glazing and finishing techniques.

Tutor

Sandra is a multidisciplinary artist, works with a range of materials to produce sculptural pieces. She takes inspiration from nature and enjoys experimenting with a range of material, often incorporating found and recycled objects, resulting fascinating and unusual art forms. She has more than 20 years’ experience exploring and teaching ceramics.  She has been always drawn to the organic character of clay, in her attempt to convey the beauty of nature through her art.
